Elementary Resource
Co-Teaching -- Two teachers in the same room!
Co-teaching allows the special education teacher, Mrs. Phelps, the flexibility to teach within the general education classroom alongside the classroom teacher. Students who receive instruction through the resource room program are able to receive assistance within the general education classroom.
The two teachers are able to teach the lessons to all children in the classroom setting. The W-MU elementary teachers use different co-teaching techniques for instruction. The techniques include: one teach/one assist, parallel teaching, alternative teaching, team teaching and station teaching. Through each technique, all students (identified as special needs' students, or not) benefit from having two certified teachers in the same classroom at the same time.
Feel free to visit us during our co-teaching lessons. Just contact Mrs. Phelps (information below)
to find out when/where she will be co-teaching.
